Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors has launched a dedicated renewable energy advisory division, the Dublin-headquartered group has announced.
The new arm – to be headed by former Mainstream Renewable Power executive Barry O’Flynn – will provide M&A, equity and debt capital raising advisory services to the global renewables sector.
In addition to Mainstream, O’Flynn has also held senior roles at EY and SSE-owned energy company Airtricity.
The new Rubicon hire led Mainstream’s entry into the South African market, and spearheaded Airtricity’s expansion into the Chinese and Italian markets.
Rubicon has in the past 18 months reached financial close on 14 infrastructure advisory mandates in Europe and North America, with a combined enterprise value in excess of EUR 8bn.
Earlier this year, Rubicon also set up a global debt advisory business. It is targeting reaching financial close on seven debt mandates “in the coming months,” it said this week.
