LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, November 20, 2018 – Rubicon Infrastructure Advisors (“Rubicon”) is pleased to announce the disposal of Fluor Ltd.’s (“Fluor”) 50% equity interest in Seagreen Wind Energy Limited (“Seagreen”) to joint venture partner SSE plc in the third quarter.
Seagreen was set up as a joint venture between Fluor and SSE plc, with the exclusive rights to develop a number of offshore wind sites in a zone off the East coast of Scotland. Seagreen Phase 1 is a fully consented site with a potential capacity of 1,500 MW. Seagreen Phases 2 and 3 are at varying stages of development.
Rubicon served as the sole and exclusive financial advisor to Fluor in this divestment, having run a competitive process that attracted keen interest from a wide range of utilities, infrastructure funds, institutional funds and strategic investors across the world.
“We are delighted to have assisted Fluor in this important transaction, in what was a discreetly-run but highly competitive and efficient divestment process with a very successful outcome,” said Barry O’Flynn, Senior Director of Rubicon. “This transaction is a welcome addition to our team’s global energy and infrastructure credentials.” O’Flynn added, “We continue to see strong appetite amongst global investors in the renewable energy asset class and we are building out our global renewable energy investment banking practice accordingly.”
